SlideMoor has been at the Dania Beach Marine Flea Market with Sailorman, “The Worlds Largest New and Used Marine Supplies and Equipment Store”, which has been serving the boating community since 1975. Chuck the owner said, “Been doing this since the first one and always see the same people, obviously they are older, but they are always here.”
In a laid back South Florida, “It is Five O’clock Somewhere” party spirit, shopper’s can find enough parts and pieces to build their boat, decorate their tiki hut, buy used scuba gear and almost anything else you can think of.
Chuck goes on to say, their claim to fame for three years running, was having a display featuring a bikini model in an “invisible shower”, a creation by “Chicken Tom”, which featured wood pilings arranged in a circle, with a larger one containing the showerhead. Apparently the ladies did not know they were standing in constantly recycled water. You could find your bearings in the market in reference to their location, until the management asked them to stop. Above all the Dania Beach Marine Flea Market is a boating and social event, with many people coming to hang out with their friends and have a cold one just as they would on their boat. For the merchants it is all about business, even if that is mixed with pleasure. As one former vendor, who had been attending from day one said, “we got drunk, raised hell, sold junk and made money”. Some notable dealers present were:
Marine Connection Liquidators – Fort Pierce
Roland says, that they come down for marketing and to meet people in the industry. They get allot of customers from other countries that come to the store after seeing them here.
Boat Owners Warehouse – A Little of Everything – Fort Pierce
Steve says, that they come to the Dania Marina Beach Flea Market to get rid of surplus merchandise once a year for the past 26 years. He has a little of everything.
One of my favorites for their huge Plexiglas shark is:
They were kind enough to teach me everything I ever wanted to know about chum but were afraid to ask, the slogan is Chumslick “Smells Like Death”.
SlideMoor was privileged to be a part of all the nautical fun. Also our product averaging less than $900.00 per piling is excellent value for money! Don’t be bitten by the competition rely on SlideMoor Docking Systems!
